This series contains primarily voyage reports, personnel lists, lists of equipment, and associated correspondence and memorandums relating to naval armed guard detachments aboard merchant vessels. Some documents pertain to the characteristics or ultimate disposition of ships. The second subseries pertains purely to ships that were sunk, irretrievably damaged, or scrapped, and also contains a few drawings.
